Our first full day in Rome has been a very full day indeed! We ended our day by walking towards the Spanish Steps, but then veering off towards the Trevi Fountain. We were headed to a concert but were looking for a little place for dinner first. We ended up at a pizza and pasta joint on the Via dei Tritone. it was a very unpretentious little place, but we all had excellent meals.
Dad and I both got the daily special -- fettucine bolognese. It was fabulous. I ate every bit. Christopher got a ham and pepperoni pizza. In Rome, that means proscuitto and salami. The meat lay slices on top and covered every inch. We were all very satisfied!
Then we got our walking feet back in gear and headed east to the Chiesa Metodista on Via Settembre. We had tickets to an opera concert performed by a chamber music group from Venice. The Church was very plain, but the performance was grand. The concert was comprised of songs / arias from all the great operas. It was like a "greatest hits" of opera. The performers were quite excellent and very entertaining The two men (a tenor and a baritone) were a couple of clowns / hams. It was great fun.
On the way back to our hotel, we walked through the Spanish Steps, but the lighting was poor, so we were a bit disappointed. We also had hoped to buy gelato on the way back, but could not find an open stand. We have promised each other that we will have gelato tomorrow!
Time for bed.
